Well. Most have probably scrolled down and saw the number already but Im going to talk about it anyways. First of all- this was the day I was most worried about. They give you something to the equivalent of adavan (I'm not getting up to find the bottle) to help you sleep the night before. Well I was still awake at midnight when we had to be up at 6am. I got some solid Zzz's at least.
You check in for 7am. They have both of us change and get me set up for an IV. My super unforgiving arms weren't having it obviously, so after one try, we switched to my hand. The girls are good there- it pinched but no pain. You take another "relax-y pill" and antibiotic at 6:30 before you go. So you hangout, they watch your heart rate etc. Mike leaves and does his contribution while all this is happening.
The nurses & doctor are all in good spirits and were really supportive. I for sure asked for more drugs if they were offering them. I felt a wave of heaviness over me and was extremely emotional. Cried the entire time. Mike sat beside me and held my hand. My ovaries are high and hard to get at. I did though- feel the needle that pierces though the wall. Overall I forget the pain now, but it really does f*ing hurt, I'm not going to sugar coat it. You're awake, on drugs but honestly it's only 10 minutes. One side at a time.
After that you are wheeled out back to your cozy chair where they put blankets on you and have you rest. I felt like i was on fire. My favourite word- clammy. I was so hot, dizzy, nauseous and felt really tired. When I have things like this/hospitals/needles I can tend to get a little weird. I had to sit still and quiet and wait for it to pass. I nearly slept there for 90 mins till they asked me to go to the bathroom & gather our stuff. I had gravol inter venous and that was fab. Oh, may I add- no food or drink after midnight last night, hence making the "weird".... weirder.
Came home, slept for a few hours. I feel bloated and like I have dull achy cramps. Now we wait till tomorrow to hear how many fertilize and a transfer date. Fingers crossed for almost all fertilization & the embryos living to day 5 for transfer. This is ideal in a wonderful, wonderful world.
Now I am home and will be on the lookout for signs and symptoms of OHSS and report if it's severe. And pray, that we have some embryos tomorrow. In the meantime take progesterone 3x a day until we have embryos to transfer and then pregnancy test.
Well. We got 6 eggs. Which everyone was very happy with. I have heard anywhere from 3-30 of eggs that are collected that women have had. I can only hope they are powerful, incredible little ones and that since less were taken, maybe OHSS symptoms will be less. Fingers & toes crossed.
