Well. The time finally came to find out if Baby J was a boy, or a girl. The anticipating leading up to this ultrasound was wild. I barely slept the night before and was on the verge of barfing the morning of.
First of all, the ultrasound at this point is mainly to check out and measure all the anatomy of the baby. The ultrasound was about 40 minutes long. They tech asked us right away if we wanted to know and of course we both said yes. Before this, we have both thought for weeks, it was a girl. If we were right, we would be surprised, and if we were wrong, we would have been VERY surprised. Obviously either way it didn't matter, but I always visualized Mike with a little girl.
As soon as the tech went to look at the gender the first time, you could instantly see- there was NO dangle lol. She went back a second time and the same thing. She said "well I see no indication it's a boy!". The baby was SUPER squirmy and active, making it hard to get good pictures and measurements easily.
After they were done, they leave you in the room to get cleaned up. You have a belly full of goo and they place paper towels on you for you to clean up. As soon as the ladies left, I put my hands over my face and yelled- "OH MY GOD!". I swear, they heard me at the front. Mike was crying, I was crying. He stood up and said, "hug me". I awkwardly rolled over and up, hugging him crying and all covered in this gel with paper towels hanging off. I can't make this stuff up. It was such an amazing moment. We had a few minutes, alone, to soak in, we were having a baby girl. It was beautiful and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I am so glad it was just us. We both went to the washroom to clean up and came back out into the waiting room all red-faced and watery eyes.
We had a small little gender reveal where the vote was nearly split in half! It was really wonderful to have our nephew, Grier, pull the pink confetti out of the box to share the good news.
We are both over the moon to welcome this little one.
I wanted to note, we both still get love & support, questions and stories relating to IVF & fertility treatment. We love being a support for anyone and always offer advice, and wish all the love & luck.

You're looking at the baby at 19 Weeks & 2 Days. It is spine up, head to the left and in the fetal position ( lol ) with arms and legs tucked under.
