Another early morning appointment. Every 2 days I do bloodwork and an ultrasound. Today the ultrasound was much more comfortable than it was 2 days ago even. The tech said they will get big and heavy and be easier to see. They were growing lots and doing well. My doctor said she counted at least 11 that had eggs and a bunch more that were still growing. Ah-mahh-zing. Keep praying and being positive they develop and don't over-produce and we can get to trigger.
Im waiting to hear my bloodwork to check estrogen levels to make sure I stay on the same dose of the Gonal-F. I started cetrotide, which as they said, burrrrrrrrrrns for 30 mins after. Holy cannelloni. But I have done all the shots myself, and honestly they do not hurt at all. The bloodwork/ultrasound hurts more.
So I should explain what these two drugs are doing. The Gonal-F is pure FSH (follicle-stimulating-hormone) and it does what it says- stimulates the super production of follicles that make eggs. The Cetrotide is to prevent premature ovulation. The goal is to mass produce several follicles & mature eggs but NOT to ovulate- to retrieve them at the clinic. So I do the Cetrotide in the morning, and the Gonal-F at night.
The nurse said today looked so much better than 2 days ago and I could be ready as soon as Sunday to trigger. Once you are given a trigger, within 24 hours we can do the egg retrieval. For now I am doing acupuncture, massage and drinking LOTS OF WATER to help with preventing severe OHSS.
Positive vibes. Now to rest, drink water & relax with mike. Happy Halloween!
